The rescue operation of an 8-year-old boy had a happy ending drowninglast night, in Kassandra Halkidiki.

As the humanitarian organization KIDS SAVE LIVES reports in its post, the father of an 8-year-old boy saw that the child was face down in the sea of ​​Fourka and ran to take him to the shore.

By chance, a private doctor was next to them, who recognized a cardiac arrest and immediately started cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), while at the same time 166 was notified and the volunteer trainer of the area Themelis Ierissiotis (EOD/KSL), who arrived within five minutes with oxygen and automatic external defibrillator.

According to what is reported, with CPR and oxygen supply, the child started breathing without requiring the use of a defibrillator and the 8-year-old was taken to the emergency room, making the first stop for stabilization at the Kassandra Health Center and the second time at the on-call hospital.

On the occasion of this incident, KIDS SAVE LIVES and its president Anastasia Stefanakis remind, speaking to APE-MPE, how important the knowledge of first aid is.

“Today the First Responders made excellent use of the lost time until the arrival of the emergency services,” he notes, reminding us that it only takes a few hours for all of us to learn first aid. “It is very important to have an automatic external defibrillator and a first aid kit in every community and beach,” says Mr. Stefanakis.
