Fighting for more than an hour with the flames, the firefighters managed to limit the dangerous fronts of the fire in Panagia Domokou.

The threat to the village of Panagia no longer exists as they were able to prevent the extension of the front. In this attempt, a firefighter was injured and taken to the Domokos Health Center for first aid.

The fire broke out in a forest area. Aided by the winds, it took on large dimensions and for the moment threatened the village of Panagia, but without getting too close to the houses.

The “headache” of the firefighters was that to the east of the village and between the villages of Panagia and Ombriaki there is an old abandoned camp where there used to be open-air ammunition. The camp has been closed for 4 years now but the battle of firefighters from the ground and the air kept the flames at a distance of about 1 km, preventing them from heading towards this area.

Already in the area, 5 aircraft and 1 helicopter dropped, while 2 PZL from the airport of Lamia continue to drop at this time.

There are 38 firefighters with 13 vehicles and a group of pedestrians from the 4th EMODE of Lamia in the area, while earthmoving machines and water tankers have been mobilized from both the Municipality of Domokos and from the Region of Central Greece, while the residents of the area with tractors are trying to create from the north and east side of the village a fire zone and to protect in this way any movement of the fire.
