The singer and actress of post-war nostalgic light music, Veta Preedrou, has died at the age of 89.

Her funeral will take place tomorrow Tuesday from Agios Vasilios Exarcheion on Metsovou Street.

Spyros Bibilas announced the news of her death in a post on Facebook:

“Sad news at the beginning of the week is the passing of our beloved actress with the velvety voice of Veta Preedros…She left today and will be buried tomorrow from Agios Vasilios Exarchion on Metsovou Street. She will be buried according to her wish in a village in Nafplio, where she shot her first film “Return to Mycenae”. Born on February 16, 1935, she made important appearances in the Greek cinema and mainly left an era with her peculiar warm voice on the radio with her broadcasts and in singing, since as the muse of Hairopoulos she was very successful in the nightclubs.

Veta Proedrou was born in 1935 in Thassos. She was a collaborator of the Light Music Orchestra of the National Radio Foundation, while she has sung in several Greek films. She was married to Giorgos Tzortzis.
