The Blue Flags program will resume when the phenomenon is controlled
The Municipality of Volos temporarily sends the Blue Flags to 6 of the 11 beaches of today, August 27, 2024 through the Deputy Mayor of Tourism.
As stated in a statement, the submission was made due to the phenomenon of dead fish, which is observed on the shores of Pagasitikos and which is ongoing.
The phenomenon, based on the announcements of the local authorities, is due to the sluice gate of Lake Karla through which the fish of the lake pass into the Pagasitiko Gulf and die due to a change in the salinity of the water.
The local authorities have already announced a series of measures, the implementation of which is expected to control the phenomenon.
This decision is temporary and has been taken with the aim of protecting both bathers and the “Blue Flag 2024” program of the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature.
The submission of the Blue Flag concerns the coasts of Plakes, Anavros, Alykes, Amfanon, Amaryllis and Kritharia.
The Blue Flags program will resume for all the coasts of the Municipality when the phenomenon is controlled, the suitability of the bathing waters is ensured and always in communication with the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature.
