He passed away at the age of 75
The famous actor passed away at the age of 75 Danis Katranidis.
The news was announced by Spyros Bibilas through his personal profile on Facebook.
“At the turn of the month, our beloved multi-talented colleague, friend, laughing child of the theater, spiritual man who produced culture with his every move left! Our beloved Dani Katranidis, this sad news shocks our entire artistic family… The void is great…” wrote the actor and MP.
The actor had retired in recent years from the field of acting as he was facing health problems.
Yannis Katranidis was born on August 4, 1949 in Aegaleo. He was a graduate (1971) of the Athens Higher Drama School Giorgos Theodosiadis. During the period 1971-1978 he was an actor of the National Theatre. In the theater season 1978-1979, he made history in the role of compere in the legendary show Cabaret staged by Aliki Vougiouklakis.
He performed in all kinds of theater, from tragedy and comedy to musicals and revues, while his involvement in radio theater is highly noteworthy. He taught at the Higher Drama School “Iasmos” and at the Theater Workshop “Vassilis Diamantopoulos”. A lover of the sea and a keen sailor, he has to his credit dozens of participations and conquests in open sea competitions.
In 1971, he married the actress (and his classmate at the School of G. Theodosiadis) Mirka Papakonstantinou. They divorced in 1977.
