DIMEA: Fines of 177,250 euros and destruction of 27,097 pieces of counterfeit items

Fines total height 177,250 euros imposed by the Inter-Service Market Control Unit (DIMEA), after inspections in online stores, handicrafts and warehouses of e-shop suppliers in Northern Greece, while 27,097 items of counterfeit items were confiscated and destroyed.

According to information from APE-MPE, the period from February 28, 2022 until today, March 4, 2022, executives of the Directorate of Data Management, Statistical Processing and E-Commerce Supervision, carried out controls in online stores, crafts and warehouses of online store suppliers in Northern Greece and specifically in Thessaloniki, Kavala, Drama and Serres, in collaboration with the Audit Service of Thessaloniki Customs (ELYT) of AADE and with the Municipal Police of Thessaloniki.

Detected, confiscated and destroyed (in recycling) 27,097 pieces of imitation clothing, footwear, underwear, bags and other accessories, toys, perfumes, as well as mobile phone accessories etc.

They were imposed while the process of deleting the websites of the online stores that traded and distributed counterfeit items begins by the National Communications and Post Commission (EETT) by order of DIMEApursuant to par. 1g, article 10, of law 4712/2020 (‘A 146).
