Mission to Sweden, by Aris Galanopoulos
The new Volvo XC90 was presented in the city of Sweden, where we got to know the brand’s brand new premium SUV up close.
It is a premium seven-seater, synonymous with comfort, it is one of the safest cars on the road and, as a plug-in hybrid, it is a car with an alternative plan, offering more than 70 km of pure electric range on a single charge, according to the test cycle WLTP.
This means that many drivers will be able to make their daily commute with zero emissions. According to research, around half of the distance traveled by Volvo’s latest plug-in hybrids is purely electric.
And the XC90 offers more power – for longer journeys, the hybrid drive system includes an efficient petrol engine that extends your range to over 800km. The full combined power of the gasoline engine and the electric motor, for permanent four-wheel drive (All-Wheel Drive) or off-road driving is of course available whenever the driver seeks it.
A new, more modern exterior design enhances the imposing appearance of the XC90. It reflects the ongoing transition to exclusive electric mobility and echoes elements from the brand’s most recent all-electric cars.
However, the most important news probably concerns the interior. A refreshed interior upgrades practicality and brings the new XC90 the latest user experience from the new all-electric EX90 and EX30. A larger central touchscreen with higher resolution improves the user experience and opens up a world of new functions, applications and regular over-the-air software updates.
In our country, the new Volvo XC90 T8 is offered in two equipment levels. In the “Plus” version, the price of the Swedish SUV is 104,710 euros, while at the Ulta level it is 109,562 euros.
