The fire fighting season has not ended, the minister said on the occasion of the traffic accident on Anavyssos Avenue which caused a fire and which spread rapidly
In a post on social media, the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, refers to the fire that broke out today in Anavyssos after a traffic accident.
“In the early afternoon, a traffic accident on Anavyssos Avenue caused a car fire, which quickly spread to dry grasses and holly trees.
Strong ground forces of the Fire Service, which were dispersed due to today’s high risk (index 4), rushed immediately – before an aerial vehicle even arrived – and managed to control the fire in less than half an hour.
The fire season is not over. Half of our firefighters are still fighting flames and the other half are fighting flooding. Maximum attention is required from everyone”, says the minister in his post.
