The “icing” at the end of the day was the upgraded and renewed program of the demonstration aircraft “Zeus” against the backdrop of the magnificent sunset.
The dogfight between a Rafale fighter jet and an F-16 Viper captured the imagination in a – by any means – more than impressive first day of this year’s 12th Athens Flying Week at Tanagra Air Base.
The “icing” at the end of the day was the upgraded and renewed program of the demonstration aircraft “Zeus” against the backdrop of the magnificent sunset.
The largest air show in the Eastern Mediterranean returned this year to the 114th Fighter Wing with a rich program of air shows and an equally “exuberant” static exhibition.
More than 50 aircraft from abroad are “present” this year. Among other things, spectators can see up close the aerobatic swarms, Saudi Hawks from Saudi Arabia, the “Eagles” of the Spanish Air Force, Patrulla Aguila, the Swiss PC-7s with nine aircraft in the air, but also the Polish Orliks.
Furthermore, the Greek Rafale, F-4 Phantom, Mirage 2000-5, T-6 and the legendary Spitfire MJ-755, as well as the aircraft of the Air Force, the Navy and the Army, “paraded” in the sky.
A demonstration of the abilities of the GEETHA faculty took place, while in the static exhibition, in addition to the magnificent F-35, the public saw up close for the first time in Greece the legendary Antonov-30 of the Romanian Air Force.
The RC Kavala Acro Team, the Hellenic Skydivers and the Athens Wind Club were also present at the demonstration.
Athens Flying Week continues on Sunday from 09:00 in the morning until 20:30 at the Tanagra air base.
