The fire at the Motor Oil facilities in Agioi Theodorou, which occurred at approximately 5.30 on Tuesday afternoon, has been brought under control.

The fire at the refineries was brought under control shortly before midnight, but the fire brigade continues to remain at the scene until it is completely extinguished by pouring water and foam. Until the early hours of Wednesday morning, 12 vehicles and 30 firefighters were at the scene due to the highly flammable materials.

The Fire Brigade forces in cooperation with the fire fighting forces of Motor Oil succeeded and limited the fire to its starting point and thus there was no risk of it spreading to adjacent tanks.

According to an announcement by Motor Oil, three workers were injured by the fire, who were taken to the Corinth Hospital with first degree burns on their hands.

The fire occurred according to the most likely scenario after a jam during operations (shut down process), which triggered an explosion and which is believed to be the cause of the large fire that broke out in the premises.
