The President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulidis, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Gerapetritis will speak, while the former Prime Minister K. Simitis will make an intervention
Memorial and tribute event to Giannos Kranidiotis and the journalists Nina Asimakopoulou, Dimitris Pantazopoulos and Panagiotis Poulos who were killed when the prime minister’s plane crashed in September 1999 in Romania, takes place in the “Georgios Karantzas” hall of ESIEA.
The event is co-organized by the Educational Foundation of ESIEA and the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Athens.
The event was organized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the fall of the prime minister’s FALCON.
At the event, the first part of which is coordinated by Alphonsos Vitalis, Member of the Board of Directors. ESIEA Educational Foundation, the president of the ESIEA Board of Directors, Maria Anoniadou, and the president of POESY, Sotiris Triantafillou, address greetings.
The keynote speaker is the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulidis. Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis will also deliver a speech, while former Prime Minister Costas Simitis will make an intervention.
In the second part of the event, which is moderated by the former president of ESIEA and the Educational Foundation Nikos Kiaos, the main speaker is Lina Vassilopoulou, wife of Dimitris Pantazopoulos, who lost his life in the plane crash.
This will be followed by the awarding of honors to the families of the journalists who were on board the Prime Minister’s plane by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulidis, the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and Government Spokesman Pavlos Marinakis and the president of the Cyprus Editors’ Union, Giorgos Fragos.
