An unexpected development was a complaint about an attempted theft in an apartment building in Piraeus at noon. They called for immediate action for two – three would-be thieves and finally arrested a gang of seven (7) people, with one police officer even climbing on the floor of the building in order to catch them in the “leeks”.

It is 13.20 at noon when a tenant of a high-rise building, on Tuesday, realizes that two (2) women and one (1) young man have entered the inside of the apartment building and are trying to break into one of the apartments on the first floor. After repeatedly ringing the bell to make sure that the owners of the “target” house were missing, the two locals, 39 and 33, checked in the hallway to see if anyone was going up, while the 17-year-old who was with them tried to break down the door.

According police sources in the Skai.gr, the terrified neighbor, who perceives and sees their action from the “eye” of her door until they cover it with a piece of paper, calls for Immediate Action. Two of the perpetrators (the 17-year-old and the 39-year-old) allegedly got out and got into a car that was fixed a little further away, waiting for the others. Within a few minutes, a DI.AS team arrives at the scene. The police find the door of the main entrance open and “seal” the uninvited “musafirs” inside the building, blocking their exit from the spot. At the same time, according to testimonies of residents in Skai.gr, one of the policemen asks for a ladder from the next store and … climbs to the apartment on the first floor in order to catch the perpetrators on the spot. The lights in the corridors of the apartment building are off. That is, four in total inside the building. Aid is requested.

As they report EL.AS officers A second group of DIAS arrives at the spot together with the leader, who locate on a street near the apartment building a suspicious vehicle in which the two members of the gang who had left the multi-storey building (the minor and the 39-year-old) and a still a man, 43 years old, who had the role of driver – “tsiliadoros”. From communication between the DI.AS teams that came to the spot, it was considered that the people who checked were probably related to the incident of the attempted theft in the aforementioned apartment building, with the result that the ex-officio police preliminary investigation showed that all seven (7) are part gang that aimed at committing thefts, robberies, frauds and other illegal acts.

The same sources add that when asked by the police, the detainees claimed that they went there for begging and that a tenant opened the main door of the apartment building.

As a whole, the domestic perpetrators are not residents of Piraeus, while they are five women aged 30-40 years and two men, aged 43 and 17 years. In fact, apart from the minor, the other six (6) are familiar to the authorities and have been arrested again for theft and burglary in a similar manner and even acting together in alternating roles.

With the case file against them, they were taken to the Prosecutor’s Office of First Instance of Piraeus and today they were before the investigator.
