OR “City of Truffles”h Kalambakais getting ready for a unique culinary celebration and experience of flavors and aromas, the 2nd Panhellenic Truffle Festival, scheduled to take place from October 10 to 13. For four days, the city turns into a huge kitchen where locals and visitors are expected to be introduced to unprecedented and delightful flavors. The raw materials that will be used, according to the organizers, are of excellent quality and therefore the result is prescribed. It is one of the top culinary events, as more than 50 of the country’s top chefs will participate. Among them is Lefteris Lazarou, who is also the chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Festival, the Elias Mamalakis and Nikos Sarandos. According to the information, the organizers are expected to distribute more than 60,000 portions of truffle delicacies to locals and visitors who will participate in this great celebration. A dynamic role in this year’s celebration also plays the Municipality of Meteora as it has … adopted this great culinary celebration and together with the Natural History Museum of Meteora and the Museum of Mushrooms are the main co-organizers. The program of events includes a variety of activities that combine gastronomy with culture and entertainment.
The mayor of Meteora Lefteris Avramopoulos in his statements to APE-MPE he emphasizes: “Kalambaka is preparing to experience a unique culinary four-day event that has truffle and mushrooms as the focus of the flavors. The Municipality of Meteora this year comes forward and adopts this unique celebration that we believe will develop into one of the biggest culinary events in the country. We work closely with the Museum of Natural History of Meteora and the Museum of Mushrooms which inspired this particular celebration and the Region of Thessaly which very actively supports the whole effort. Culinary tourism constitutes – worldwide – one of the most dynamic and rising forms of tourism”. To conclude by emphasizing:
“Our goal as a Municipal Authority is to highlight the culinary experience that our region offers and to integrate gastronomy into the tourism marketing plan. The land of Meteora has unique products of excellent quality and we owe it to these products to highlight them by enriching the culinary experience of every visitor. Truffles and mushrooms are a precious treasure of our region and we want to make them an incentive to visit and get to know each other. We continue to invest in extroversion by supporting initiatives that highlight the comparative advantages of our country with the main goal of strengthening our tourism product”.
