A new ministerial decision extending relief measures for those affected by the floods in Thessaly was signed by the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security, Panos Tsakloglou.

In continuation of the previous extension, which was granted by ministerial decision No. D.15/D΄/80782/12/9/2023 and entitled “Suspension of payment of insurance contributions, installments and payment extensions for those affected by floods”, an extension is granted for an additional three months, until 31 December 2024 (total suspension 15 months), for those affected by the floods in Thessaly and, specifically:

a) for businesses and employers with a business establishment or activity in specific areaswhich are identified by the Hellenic Fire Brigade as universally affected, according to the recommendation of KEKA,

b) for businesses and employers with a specific professional activity (tourist businesses, accommodation, fishing) that have a business establishment or are active in areas of the Region of Thessaly and, in particular:

Businesses related to the tourism industry (accommodations, restaurants, tourist businesses, etc.) in areas affected, due to (a) the unsafe road access and (b) the unsuitability of the water, namely in the following:

  • Municipality of Limni Plastira:
  • Municipal Unit of Plastira (Municipal Communities of Morfovounio, Kerasea, Lampero, Mesenikola and Moschato)
  • Municipal Unit of Nevropolis Agrafon (Municipal Communities of Pezoula, Karvasara, Karitsis Dolopi, Kryoneri, Belokomitis, Neochori and Phylaktis)
  • Municipality of Pyli: Municipal Communities of Elati, Neraidochori and Pertouli of the Municipal Unit of Aithekon
  • Municipality of Volos: Municipal Units of Agria, Iolkos, Portaria, Artemis and Makrinitsa
  • Municipality of South Pelion
  • Municipality of Zagora-Mouresi
  • Municipality of Agia: Municipal Community of Stomio of the Municipal Unit of Evrymena
  • Kato Sotiritsa settlement of the Sotiritsis Municipal Community, Velika, Paliouria, Koutsoupia and Kokkino Nero Melivoia settlements of the Melivoia Municipal Community, Agiokambos and Kato Polydendri settlements of the Skitis Municipal Community, of the Melivoia Municipal Unit
  • Alexandrini Settlement of the Municipal Community of Palaiopyrgos of the Municipal Unit of Evrymena
  • Municipality of Tempo: Settlements of Nea Messagala and Kastri Loutro of the Municipal Community of Aegani of the Municipal Unit of Kato Olympos
  • Municipality of Meteora: Municipal Unit of Aspropotamos (Municipal Communities of Kallirroi, Agia Paraskevi, Anthousis, Kataphyto (Kataphyto, Milea settlements), Kranea (Kranea, Doliana, Konakia settlements), Polythea, Stefani and Halikio

Accommodation businesses (hotels, rooms for rent, etc.) in areas that were affected only or mainly, due to the unsuitability of the water, i.e. in the following areas:

  • Municipal Community of Pyli of the Municipal Unit of Pyli of the Municipality of Pyli
  • Municipal Units of Volos, Nea Anchialos and Nea Ionia of the Municipality of Volos
  • Municipal Units of Kato Olympos and Ampelakia of the Municipality of Tempe, outside the areas that are in Perimeter A

For fishermen and fish trading businesses, due to the effects on the Thessaly coastline, namely in the following areas:

  • Municipality of Volos
  • Municipality of South Pelion
  • Municipality of Almyros
  • Municipality of Zagora Mouresi
  • Municipality of Riga Feraio
  • Municipality of Tempo
  • Municipality of Agia

c) especially for demonstrably affected businesses, employers and policyholderswhich are certified with a relevant certificate from the Region.

As stated in a related announcement, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security is taking care with every appropriate means to relieve those affected by extreme flooding phenomena, giving them the necessary time to overcome the difficulties and get back on their feet.
