On the occasion of the murder of a 68-year-old man by his 49-year-old wife in Corfu, “The Smile of the Child” states in a statement that the family had again dealt with incidents of domestic violence and neglect of a minor.

On 07/19/2021, Hamogelo received a report which was sent to the Prosecutor’s Office for excessive alcohol consumption by the mother, for neglect and for psychological abuse of the minor.

On 11/05/2022 he sent an “urgent” report to the Prosecutor’s Office following an incident that occurred on 10/05/2022 where the local Police Department had been informed, as the mother had consumed alcohol and the minor was alone at home.

“Once again, “The Child’s Smile” informs that competent authorities are responsible for investigating reports of abuse/neglect. For every incident of domestic violence, there should be immediate reflexes and each report should be evaluated by a specialized team, and not be the case of one person”.

It is recalled that the 68-year-old was found dead in the morning in Perama, Corfu, in the house where he lived with his 49-year-old Russian wife and their 11-year-old daughter.

His wife confessed to killing him with a kitchen knife.

The reasons that led her to this act have not yet been made known, however, according to information from skai.gr, the couple had engaged the authorities in the last two years for incidents of domestic violence.

The 11-year-old girl is under the care of the Police with a psychologist.
