Effective tomorrow, October 1, 2024, the reduction of the toll fee on the Maliakos – Kleidi section of the Patras-Athens-Thessaloniki-Evzoni (PATHE) Motorway, which is covered by the benefit, amounting to 15,821,155 euros, which secured the State from the refinancing of the Maliakos-Kleidi Motorway project.

In his letter to the Aegean Motorway, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Staikouras, confirmed his intention to undertake the financing obligation for the above amount, until it is used up by December 31, 2025, in order to reduce the amount of tolls for the users of the motorway as follows :

Discount on all categories of vehicles with a differentiation between light (EO) and heavy vehicles (BO) as follows:

Light vehicles:

A discount of 17%, which applies to all crossings, either by using a transceiver (of any Concession) or by paying in lanes with a cashier (or automatic payment machines).

Specifically, the benefit for IX users from implementing the program is:

  • €2.8 for 2024, as the charge to pass through the five stations drops from €16.5 (today) to €13.7
  • 3 euros for 2025, from 17.4 to 14.4 euros, according to estimates.

Heavy vehicles:

5% discount, which applies exclusively to transponder crossings (of any Concession). This discount is added to the discount of 7%, which already exists from the concessionaire. For cash payment, existing toll rates will continue to apply.

As the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras stated:

“For the first time, with the agreement reached between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the concessionaire, the benefit returns directly to Greek society, with a reduction in the cost of travel for highway users.”
