Shop dolls, shelves, desks and other furniture had filled the space in the main street of the city – Lawsuit from the municipality to the owner and a bell of 500 euros
A criminal report against an unconscious citizen who threw the remains of an old craft on a central street of Thessaloniki will be filed tomorrow, Tuesday, by the administration of the Municipality of Thessaloniki.
Residents of Botsari Street saw their sidewalk covered by various types of bulky objects. Shop dolls, shelves, desks and various other furniture had filled the space, while related photos were posted by protesting residents on social media.
The specific images caused the immediate mobilization of the deputy mayors of Cleanliness and Municipal Police of the municipality, who rushed to the scene on Sunday afternoon to identify the culprit.
With the cooperation of the neighbors, it was found that the owner of a craft warehouse vacated the ground floor space in a building in order to proceed with its sale.
The municipal authority, in addition to the imposition of an administrative fine of 500 euros on the offender, requested the presence of ELAS at the scene to record the incident so that then, by order of the mayor, Stelios Angeloudis, an indictment report would be submitted.
“On Tuesday, the indictment will be submitted to the prosecutor of the first instance. The investigation is ongoing. Our goal is to comply with some who act unconsciously and cause the public’s indignation,” the Deputy Mayor of the Municipal Police, Kostas Tsiapakidis, told APE-MPE.
In fact, according to voria.gr, the mayor of Thesslaonikis announced a tightening of the fines for those who continue this tactic and throw bulky items in the public space.
As he said a few days ago, “at the next municipal council, a decision will be made to impose a fine of 3,000 euros for anyone who unloads bulky items on the street.” “Cameras will also be used. We will have both of the municipality’s drones available for control. “Unfortunately, in the last two months, the deputy mayor’s office attempted to clean 2,800 collection points,” said the mayor of Thessaloniki.
Characteristic of the prevailing situation is the fact that only last August the Cleaning service collected 634 tons of bulky objects. Between January and July, 4,799 tons were gathered with massive from 24,274 points.
