The Arson Crime Directorate had fined the deputy mayor €3,000 for smoking beehives
Criminal prosecution for a felony was brought today by the prosecutor of Corinth, against the vice-mayor of Xylokastro – Eurostini, for the fire of September 29 in areas of the municipality of Xylokastro – Eurostini that cost the lives of two people.
It is noted that the DAEE created a case file which it forwarded to the prosecutor of Corinth.
It is recalled that the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes had imposed a fine of 3000 euros on the deputy mayor for smoking beehives on the date of the fire of September 29, 2024, in the Rozena area of the municipality of Xylokastro-Eurostini of the regional unit of Corinthia and close to its beginning, in time proximity to its manifestation and while in the area the danger index was level 4.
For this reason, the department for dealing with crimes of arson (DAEE), collected the necessary evidence for their transmission to the competent judicial authorities, in order to investigate criminal responsibilities in relation to the occurrence of the fire.
It is noted that according to information, the deputy mayor had denied that he had carried out the above works on the day of the fire, however he later admitted it.
The man is expected, according to information, to be re-examined by the relevant officials of the fire service.
