“On 07/17/2024, we received a call to the “National Children’s Hotline SOS 1056” from an aware citizen who reported possible abusive behavior within the family, specifically an incident of both physical and verbal abuse of the 13-year-old girl.
On 07/18/2024, the Organization informed in writing the competent Prosecution Authorities of the area, to investigate the living conditions of the family.
On 10/14/2024 the Agency’s National Center on Abuse and Exploitation was informed of reports of a 13-year-old girl being sexually abused by two adults last August, who videotaped their actions and shared them with third parties over the internet.
We contacted the Police Directorate of Lesvos and the Sub-Directorate of Security of Mytilene, in order to stand by and support both the minor and the family in general.
“The Smile of the Child” underlines that “with regard to the specific incident of sexual abuse, but also of illegal filming, of the 13-year-old minor in Mytilini, the National Center for the Abuse and Exploitation of the Organization has not received any relevant report and the case is in a preliminary investigation stage.”
