New, updated data on cases smallpox of sheep and goats the country was given by the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food.

Specifically, 104 outbreaks were identified and 17,500 animals were killed in Evros, Komotini, Xanthi, Kavala, Serres, Magnesia and Corinthia.

In the Official Gazette, the Memorandum of the Ministers of Rural Development and Food, Kostas Tsiaras and Deputy of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis, has been published, regarding the financial compensations of breeders for animals killed in application of the European rules for the treatment of zoonotic plague of small ruminants and sheep pox.

The new CPA provides for increased amounts as compensations.

The following are indicatively provided for:

A. For sheep and goats with official pedigree certificates of purity:

Sheep or goats from 6 months and 1 day to 3 years old up to two hundred and fifty (250.00) euros,
Rams or breeding goats aged 6 months to 3 years up to five hundred (500.00) euros,
B. For sheep and goats of common or half-breed breeds:

Sheep or goats from 6 months and 1 day to 3 years old up to two hundred and twenty (220) euros
Rams or breeding goats aged 6 months to 3 years up to three hundred and twenty (320.00) euros.
