A series of events has been planned by the General Air Staff to celebrate the patron of the Air Force, Archangel Michael, from Wednesday 6 to Sunday 10 November.
More specifically, from November 6 to 10, there will be aircraft transfers to enrich the static exhibitions of the units, static and photographic exhibitions at the units, events of Air Sports Associations and Aeromodelling at air bases and educational visits from Primary Schools, Middle Schools and High Schools to units of Air Force.
In addition, on Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 November, as part of the School Professional Orientation, educational visits from Secondary Education Schools of Attica (1st and 2nd High School students) will take place at the Icaron School. At the same time, the presence of Students of Critical Areas at the celebration events and the presentation of aviation exhibits and activities (flight simulators and virtual reality VRs) are planned at the Helexpo International Exhibition of Thessaloniki (stand 1), with free entry for the public on the following days and times :
– Wednesday 6 November : 09:00 – 16:00 & 17:30 – 21:00 (Stand Opening Ceremony, 17:00)
– From Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 November: 09:00 – 21:00
In particular, on Wednesday November 6, aircraft formations will fly over major cities, critical cities and islands, while at 18:30 a concert of the Air Force Music is organized at the “Syntagma” Metro Station and at 19:30 a concert of the Air Force Music in the Square Aristotelous, in Thessaloniki, with a simultaneous Drone demonstration (in the extension of Aristotelous Square, inside the sea).
On Thursday, November 7, the flights of retired officers, active officers and journalists will take place at the 111th Fighter Wing, at the Nea Aghialos Air Base, while at 19:30 there will be a concert of the Air Force Music on the pedestrian street of Agia Sophia, in Thessaloniki
On Friday November 8, at 10:00: a memorial service and wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Fallen Airmen’s Memorial at Dekelia Air Base, Tatoi while at 12:00, the official celebration and eulogy will take place at the Icaron School, at the air base Decelia.
On Saturday, November 9, the flights of 2nd grade high school students to the Icaron School, at the Dekelia Air Base are scheduled, while at 19:30 an event will take place in the events hall of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with the participation of well-known performers and the Air Force Band .
At the same time, at 19:30, a musical event begins at the “FLOYD” concert hall, in Gazi, for the students of the productive Schools of the Air Force and the other Branches of the Armed Forces, as well as for students of the 2nd & 3rd Grade High Schools of Basin of Attica.
Air Force Bases will be open to the public on the following days and times:
– On Wednesday 6, Thursday 7, Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 November, from 09:00 to 17:00
– On Friday November 8, from 13:00 to 17:00.
