For the immediate restoration of damages caused by unknown persons at the primary school in Perivolaki Lagada Thessaloniki and the replacement of electronic devices stolen or destroyed the local community has been mobilized in cooperation with the self-governing authorities and the education department.

The incident of vandalism at the school was announced by the president of the local community of Perivolaki, Zografos Boutourakis, by posting a video on social media, where broken windows from the door and a damaged projector were visible. The vandalism is believed to have happened on Sunday night and was noticed on Monday morning when the school principal arrived. “This is the first time something like this has happened in our village. They broke the door from behind, got in, damaged the projectors that were in the classrooms and today, from what the principal informed me, 3 or 4 laptops and the microphone of the school where we did the events are missing“, said Mr. Butourakis to the APE-MPE radio station “Agency 104.9 FM”, noting that “the school principal on Monday morning who went to open the school, went in saw the situation and informed directly and me and the police.”

Through his public post, Mr. Butourakis appealed for voluntary assistance of the residents for the restoration of the damages and, as he noted, the response of the citizens was immediate. “The school is working normally, the same day the technical service of the Municipality came, they started the restoration of cables so that the children could go inside”, he said, adding that “the people on the same day wanted to bring what was missing».

We condemn the incident, it is impermissible to vandalize school premises“, the Regional Director of Education of K. Macedonia, Alexandros Koptsis, told APE-MPE. As he clarified, it was established that in addition to the damages caused, some laptops and tablets were also stolen.

Mr. Koptsis assured that there is a very good cooperation of the education directorate, with the Municipality and the municipal community, but also with the school’s parents’ association so that the replacement of the electronic devices can be done as soon as possible.
