The hunt against piracy continues by the authorities. Sensation was caused by busting a well-established criminal enterprise allegedly set up by a father-son “family duo”who profited handsomely from the subscriptions of an illegal IPTV network.

Armed police officers, with the participation of judicial officers, arrested a father and son, who, among other findings, found 255,000 euros in cash, a large number of digital findings, servers and a customer base of thousands of users of pirated content in their homewhich will be examined by the Authorities. Users of the illegal service run the risk of getting into a flurry of legal trouble, as being caught can lead to penalties

Father and son appear to have set up boats with custom-built large-scale decoders and are believed to have even been involved in wholesaling pirated content, “selling tokens” to other passers-by to make their bundle. The image that the police saw during the raid was revealing, as the apartment where the two accused were arrested, according to information with state-of-the-art surveillance cameras, both inside and outside the apartment building.

The surveillance system, equipped with sophisticated cameras that covered every corner, proves how “careful” the perpetrators were, making sure they had complete control of the area and protected their illegal activity from prying eyes. In addition to the serious criminal penalties of a criminal nature, the penalty from the ESR is expected to be heavy, as it can impose fines of up to 300,000 euros.

According to the police, they were found inside the house of the two men

  • Five IPTV box devices
  • Three mobile devices,
  • Twelve internal drives,
  • Nine external storage media (USB Stick),
  • A digital decoder board,
  • A notebook with handwritten notes,
  • Three computers,
  • Two digital decoders,
  • Two servers
  • 128,050 euros

In the uncovered area of ​​the apartment building were found:

  • A mobile phone
  • Internal hard drive
  • shoulder bag, with three IPTV box devices, four internal disks, nine USB sticks, memory card, OBV digital decoder board,
  • as well as the amount of 127,000 euros.

According to EL.AS. from the investigation it emerged that the defendants through the digital devices had access to an active management platform (portal) IPTV with a number of available active channels and “bouquets” of channels, as well as a number of streams on demand (on demand) content of movies and series, with hundreds active end users-subscribers. The seized digital evidence will be sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for laboratory expertise, while the seized amount of money will be deposited in the Deposit and Loan Fund.
