In order to prevent the importation of a quantity of narcotic substances, after an inspection in the forecourt of the 5th wing of the Korydallos I Penitentiary, on Monday, November 4, 2024, prison officers of the internal guard proceeded, following the orders and directions given by the Political Leadership of the Ministry Citizen Protection, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of Anti-Criminal Policy and the Headquarters of EL.AS., for continuous and intensive controls in the Penitentiaries of the country.
In particular, the following were found and confiscated: 50.1 g. hemp and 10.3 gr. of cocaine, which were carefully hidden in improvised nylon packaging and placed inside two tennis balls, after being thrown from the outside of the Penitentiary. A criminal case file was opened by the Korydallos Security Department and the case is at the preliminary investigation stage.
“Over the last few months, inspections (regular and emergency) have been multiplied and intensified within the country’s Penitentiaries with very significant successes, while they will continue even more intensively throughout the next period, on the basis of the Strategic Planning that is already being implemented by the Ministry of Citizen Protection , for a modern Penitentiary Security Policy within the Penitentiaries”, states the Ministry of Citizen Protection.
