In the room of the Edessa Mixed Jury Court, it is scheduled to start today trial for the murder of the 41-year-old pregnant woman, whose body was found last January, inside a trunk, in a forest area near Monopigados, on the border of the prefectures of Thessaloniki and Halkidiki.

On the bench of the Criminal Court will sit o 39 year old partner of the murdered Georgia and o 34 year old friend of hiswho – according to the will of the Criminal Council of Thessaloniki – face the charges of manslaughter, abortion and robbery (jointly and in the degree of felony), as well as illegal carrying of weapons and use of weapons. The two defendants remain locked up in prisons, as they had been convicted pretrial detainees after their statement to the 4th ordinary investigator of Thessaloniki.

The murder was committed on New Year’s Dayin the apartment of the 39-year-old, in Kalamaria and the motive of the perpetrators seems to have been robbery.

According to the forensic findings, the unfortunate woman, who was in her 7th week of pregnancy, suffered three fatal wounds from knife in the cervical area and neck.

As described in the will, the defendants placed the woman’s lifeless body in a trunk-type suitcase and transported it to the spot, where it was found a week later, following the instructions of 34 years oldwho, addressing EL.AS., he confessed his involvement in the case.

Security cameras recorded the two defendants carrying the trunk and after the crime throwing various items into trash cans, including a mattress, on which traces of the victim’s blood were found. It was preceded by effort of the 39-year-old her partner to divert the investigations of the prosecuting authorities by sending various messages with the woman as the sender.

Apologizing to the investigator, the 39-year-old he denied all the acts attributed to himpointing out his friend as the perpetrator.

“I’m not going to confess to a crime I didn’t commit,” he reportedly said, among other things.

In turn, the 34-year-old “showed” his co-accused as the perpetrator of the murder, claiming, as it became known at the time, that he agreed to participate in a “fake” robbery because he needed the moneybut he didn’t want the woman to get hurt.
