Today, a 35-year-old elder, who was reported by believers in the Diocese as being sold on Syngrou Avenue without the knowledge of her priest husband in a central parish of Athens, tried to put an end to her life with pills.

According to the Church Online, people from her family found her and managed to take her to the hospital.

As the church website reports, Papadia was recognized by two prospective clients from her parish. The two men, when they realized who she was, immediately informed the commissioner of the church, who then contacted the Holy Diocese and thus the case was revealed.

The priest, who has been a minister in the church for many years, was famous for his piety and his concern for the parishioners. But the revelation of his wife’s double life has brought turmoil both to him and to the local community.

Parishioners say that they had never suspected such a thing, as the papaya always gave the image of a pious woman who supported her husband in his work.

The personal tragedy behind the scandal

Information indicates that the 35-year-old Papadia was led to this double life because of serious financial problems the couple was facing. The priest’s salary was not enough to cover the needs of the family, as a result of which the wife sought alternative means of income.

She herself, according to unconfirmed sources, seems to have confessed her activity to a close circle of acquaintances, stating that she had no other choice due to financial difficulties. At the same time, she has reportedly asked for forgiveness from her husband, who is in a state of shock and is currently avoiding making public statements.

The reaction of the Church

The Diocese has not issued an official statement, however, according to church sources, it is considering the matter very seriously. It is possible that an emergency church council will be called to look into the incident and take the necessary measures.

It is worth noting that the Church deals with such scandals with severity, as it considers that they harm its prestige and the relationship of trust with the flock. Similar cases in the past have led to disciplinary sanctions and even the demotion of priests who were involved in cases that defamed the ecclesiastical body.
