In view of the safety of the citizens and the protection of the city, the municipality of Athens calls on the citizens to be especially careful in their movements
The municipality of Athens is putting its services on alert tomorrow, Saturday, due to the heavy rainfall expected in Attica, according to its forecasts National Meteorological Service and his National Observatory of Athens.
Among other things for Saturday 30/11 and for as long as necessary, there will be:
- Alert levels with the participation of workers from the services involved in Civil Protection, but also those in charge from the seven Municipal Communities, especially in areas that flood frequently, mainly due to damming and covering of the streams that existed in the past.
- Municipal Police patrols throughout the city, with an emphasis on the areas of increased flood risk, with the participation of the Deputy Mayor for Climate Governance and Social Economy, Nikos Chrysogelos, who is also responsible for Civil Protection.
- Mobilization of municipal machinery even by participants in the list of contractors, if necessary.
- Use of drones, which will provide a continuous picture of the evolution of phenomena in critical areas.

Also, don’t cover rainwater wells with objects, don’t park in front of them and don’t deposit garbage in their openings.
At the same time, information has been sent to the agencies that carry out projects within the municipality, to take care of the safety of their construction sites that are in progress. Indicative:
- Remove all surplus excavation products to the designated disposal areas.
- To collect, cover and demarcate safely, all building materials found on the construction sites, in order to avoid their dispersion.
- All open trenches should be closed and demarcated with the necessary barriers (nets, ribbons, warning signs, flash lights, etc.).
- There should be continuous control of the construction sites during the weather phenomena and while they develop, in order to avoid any accidents.
- To check all the points where work is being carried out and the pavements and pavements have not yet been restored.
