A 15-year-old girl who was taken early Sunday morning to the emergency room of the pediatric clinic of the Katerinis hospital, gave birth to her baby in the toilet.

According to information, the 15-year-old went to the toilet and as soon as she came back she told the nurses that she was pregnant and miscarried.

The medical staff rushed to the toilet and that’s how the infant was found in the garbage.

The infant was immediately intubated and then transported to the Papageorgiou hospital.

According to information yesterday at 6.30 pm, 15-year-old Roma arrived at the pediatric emergency department of the Katerinis hospital with symptoms of gastroenteritis.

She went to the toilet unaccompanied and gave birth there. She initially abandoned the baby but later disclosed the birth to her mother who informed the staff who found the infant in the toilet.

The doctors made superhuman efforts to keep him alive, they intubated him and he was immediately transferred to the neonatal unit of the Papageorgiou hospital.

According to the president of POEDIN, Michalis Giannakos, “the baby weighs 1,600 grams and is estimated to have been born at 33 or 34 weeks.”

It is noted that the 15-year-old mother underwent surgery (scraping) and is hospitalized in good condition at the maternity clinic of the Katerinis hospital.

The hospital staff informed the prosecutor and the police.
