Increased profits from tickets has brought his pilot measure OASA and of the OSETH “Front door”, which is combined with the increase of inspectors on dozens of bus lines.

According to the analytical data, in the quarter September – October – November 2024 the revenue of OASA increased by 4.88 million euros (+10.45%) compared to the corresponding quarter of 2023. In the corresponding quarter of 2023 the receipts were 47.4 million euros while in the quarter of 2024 52.28 million euro. Controls in the months of September – October – November 2023 were 1,254,401, while in the corresponding months of 2024 they were 1,919,613. The increase in revenue is due to the intensification of controls which were of the order of 53% as well as the establishment of revenue from the pilot measure “Front Door”.

A greater increase in revenue by 1.36 million euros (+30%) was observed in Thessaloniki, where the number of inspections by OSETH increased by 28%. In particular, in the September-October-November quarter of 2024, the collections at OSETH reached 5,821,307 million. euros while the corresponding period of 2023 was 4,463,472 million. euros (30.42% increase). Controls for the same quarter of 2024 were 52,609 while in 2023 41,075 (an increase of 28.08%).

The overall increase in revenue for Public Transport in the quarter September – November 2024 was €6.24 million “reflecting the successful implementation of measures to curb fare evasion”.

The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Vassilis Oikonomou in his statement to APE-MPE he emphasizes “The success of the measures against ticket evasion in the last quarter is an important step towards ensuring the fair and sustainable operation of public transport. With respect for citizens who fulfill their obligations, but also for our commitments to the state, we ensure that our transportation remains accessible, safe and financially sound. Tackling fare evasion is not only a matter of economic sustainability, but also of social justice. We thank the citizens who cooperate in this effort and we are committed to continue with measures that strengthen the transparency, reliability and quality of the services we provide.”
