Transit achieves 95% performance scoring the maximum score for technologies that monitor driver safety and prevent lane departures
The newly facelifted Ford Transit has today become the fourth Ford Pro commercial vehicle to win the Platinum safety award from independent authority Euro NCAP.
This recognition means that Ford Pro now provides the highest possible level of safety across the entire new Transit family following the Platinum accolades achieved by the all-new Transit Custom and Transit Connect earlier this year, as well as the Transit Courier in 2023.
“The safety of drivers and cargo is the No.1 priority for businesses across Europe,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro Europe. “The Euro NCAP Platinum awards achieved by the entire Transit family are the ultimate confirmation of how seriously we take safety in Ford Pro.”
The Transit was already among the best-performing vans when the independent body Euro NCAP first introduced a new commercial vehicle safety test for the type in 2020, achieving the Gold distinction.
Ford Pro delivered the latest generation of the popular Transit to Euro NCAP this year to undergo all the necessary tests in accordance with the latest and most stringent protocols, having previously added to the comprehensive suite of standard driver assistance systems technologies and systems such as Pre-Collision Assist with autonomous emergency braking, Lane Keeping Alert & Aid, and Intelligent Speed ​​Assist.
Equipped with advanced technologies that can help avoid or limit the impact of collisions with other road users, as well as prevent the vehicle from drifting into or out of traffic lanes, the upgraded Ford Pro Transit scored an overall performance of 95% in six assessment categories. The result included the maximum score for the performance of the Occupant Safety Monitoring and Lane Support Systems.
“The latest version of the Transit (from 2024 onwards) excels across the board and becomes Ford’s latest business van model to receive a Platinum rating. With safety technology on par with that of modern passenger vehicles, the Ford Pro Transit comfortably ranks among the vans offering the highest levels of safety,” was Euro NCAP’s verdict.
Euro NCAP’s Platinum safety award is awarded to the fourth generation Transit for models released from 2024 onwards.
