Piraeus is strengthening its actions to support projects that contribute to the restoration of the country’s natural environment from the consequences of climate change. Following the financing and implementation of anti-corrosion projects, with a budget of 2 million euros in the area of ​​Penteli, the Bank proceeded to plant trees on Mount Penteli by its employees. With this voluntary action, the Bank and its people seek to improve the Organization’s environmental footprint and strengthen corporate volunteerism.

The tree planting took place with the participation of the President of Piraeus Giorgos Handjinikolaus, of CEO Christos Megalosof the members of the Bank’s Executive Committee and about 300 employees, on Saturday, December 14, with the planting of more than 600 saplings on an area of ​​15 acres.

The ultimate goal of the initiative is to plant a total of 1,500 saplings in the wider area. The plants come from certified nurseries and are suitable for the area, and there is a commitment to care for them for the next 3 years. The action is implemented in collaboration with the non-profit organization We4All and the Penteli Forestry.

Piraeus, with the aim of protecting the natural environment and as part of its strategy to have a leading role in the sustainable development of the country and at the same time to return to society part of the value it creates, has undertaken the financing and implementation of anti-corrosion projects in the area of ​​Penteli, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Energy and with a horizon of four months.

The Bank has already completed important anti-corrosion anti-flood projects in Parnitha, which had a total budget of 3 million. euros, while Piraeus also participates in the restoration of the damages in Thessaly from the bad weather Daniel with the financing of projects amounting to 12.5 million. euro.
