With a written statement, the former deputy regional governor Rena Dourou reacted to the proposal of the prosecutor’s office to be found guilty for Mandra.
Ms. Dourou points out that the prosecutor accepted the indictment as it is, proposing the guilt of all the accused, while requesting her acquittal on the charge of breach of duty.
The former governor adds that her lawyers will respond to the prosecutor’s arguments and the court will decide.
The full text of Ms. Douros’ statement follows
“The Prosecutor today proposed the guilt of all the accused, including the three Mayors of the area. In other words, he accepted the indictment as it is, except for the prosecution for breach of duty, for which he asked for my acquittal.
According to the Procedure, my lawyers will respond one by one to the accusations of the Prosecutor, substantiating the rebuttal of her proposal and deconstructing it legally. And finally the Court will evaluate all the facts and will decide.
For the time being, at this stage of the process I am not going to go into any kind of commentary on the substance or criticize the proposal personally.
As imposed by the obligation to respect the memory of the victims and the personality of all victims. To this end I was, am and remain committed “
