For another year, thousands of visitors chose to welcome the new year at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center – Fireworks lit up the Attic sky
For yet another year, thousands of visitors chose to welcome the new year at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) which has now established itself as one of the most beloved destinations in Athens for the change of time. At exactly midnight, fireworks lit up the Attic sky above the SNFCC, creating a spectacular spectacle, while the Canal Fountains also welcomed the New Year with impressive choreography. The host of the glamorous evening was the actor and singer Jerome Kaluta, while the program was opened by the multi-talented singer, musician, performer and music producer Ian Stratis. All New Year’s Eve events were held with free admission thanks to the donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
From 22.30, Ian Stratis thrilled the audience with his liveliness and special stage presence in a concert with favorite songs in dynamic performances. Then, at the change of time, SNFCC Managing Director, Elli Andriopoulou, addressed greetings and wishes for the New Year. With the arrival of 2025, the audience at the Agora welcomed the living legend of disco and the first super star DJ in Greece in the 80s, Nicola Lavacca, who took off the night with a DJ set that evolved into an authentic disco party until 03.00.
At the same time, at exactly 00:04, the start was given for the first road race of the year, the SNF RUN: 2025 FIRST RUN of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). Runners covered a 3km course: they ran along the illuminated Canal and Esplanade, to Water Square and back. The race had a charitable character again this year. With the amount of money collected (€7,500) from the symbolic participation cost of the runners, the non-profit organization “Panos & Chrysiida – Help for Children” will be strengthened. The race was held with an exclusive donation from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), which covered all production costs, and the organizational supervision of AMKE Rebirth & Progress and the Department of Sports Excellence | Sports Excellence of the First Orthopedic Surgery Clinic of the Medical School of the University of Athens.
At the same time, the Stavros Niarchos Ice Rink and Park remained open until 02.00 for this evening only, for those who wanted to welcome the new year by making figures on the ice or photographing the impressive Lighting Installations.
The SNFCC festive program was broadcast live by ERT2, the SNFCC YouTube channel and the snfcc.org website.
