The 25-year-old man, who on New Year’s Day shot and seriously injured his 15-year-old cousin in Nea Zoi Aspropyrgos, was remanded in custody after his apology.
According to information, the man accused of attempted murder reportedly claimed that while the time was changing in order to comply with the custom, he fired two shots into the air. But because, as he reportedly said, he “stuck” the revolver while he was looking at it, it went off, hitting the 15-year-old and injuring him in the abdomen.
A claim refuted by the 15-year-old, who remains hospitalized in Thriasio, as in his testimony he claims that without any reason he took the revolver and pointed it at him and shot him with a direct shot.
The 25-year-old’s mother, who was considered an accomplice in the attempted murder, was released after her apology.
In his statement, the 25-year-old’s lawyer, Yiannis Glykas, states:
“The defendant, who appeared voluntarily at the police authorities, supported his position, that he never had a motive to take anyone’s life and much more he had no intent to commit attempted murder even in the form of the possibility (intent)! The result which unfortunately occurred it was the result of his negligent behavior, which he explained at length in his apology.”
