In constant contact with our consul in Mariupol, Manoli Androulaki, is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The consul, according to diplomatic sources, is fine, but is moving very slowly due to the circumstances.

It is noted that earlier, he had another obstacle on the way back Greek consul in Mariupol,Manoli Androulakiwhich will still be late to “tread” the territory of the European Union.

As he said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias answering a question in Parliament about the Greeks in Ukraine, a change of plan was needed, as last night Zaporizhia was bombed and another route had to follow.

However, he expressed the hope that by tomorrow night he will be within the European borders.

Answering the question posed by opposition MPs about whether Greece tried to reduce the consequences for the expatriates, Mr. Dendias noted that “We had warned the Greek community.”

He referred to the announcements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made on 11, 14 and 24 February requesting to leave Ukraine.

“So far we have organized five evacuation operations and we hope to succeed in a sixth,” he said, adding that “this is a tragic moment and the minimum we must all take seriously.”

It is noted that the release operation of the Consul General in Mariupol Manoli Androulaki, as well as the field staff of the OSCE Mission, together with their family members started yesterday afternoon.

The operation takes place in close coordination with the OSCE. The convoy is expected to move west.

As it became known earlier by the local authorities, about 2,000 vehicles have left the besieged city.
