Strong west wind brought unprecedented heat to Valencia with 26.9 degrees Celsius “In the Heart of Winter”- the previous record was 26.6 in 2018
A temperature of 26.9 degrees Celsius was recorded today in Valencia, southeastern Spain, a heat record for January, according to Aemet, the Spanish meteorological service, which has been gathering data since 1869.
“26.9 degrees Celsius at this time (just before 13.00 local time) at Valencia Station. This is the highest temperature ever recorded in the city in January more than a one -and -a -half -century data concentration since 1869. The previous record was 26.6 degrees Celsius on January 22, 2018, “Aemet in the Valencia region wrote in X.
According to Avamet, the Valencia Meteorology Union, these high temperatures occurred as a result of a strong western wind.
“Extremely hot on the coast and near the coast of the Valencia Gulf due to a western wind,” Avamet had already reported in X this morning.
“Some communities of the Alba Valley (about 80 kilometers south of Valencia) have recorded the warmest night of January since we have data.”
