Most of the seismic activity continues to be located southwest of anhydrous, with a slight tendency to migrate to the southwest
From the launch of the seismic activity in the Santorini-Amorgos zone on January 26th to 14th February 2025, the seismology laboratory (HS) of the NCSR (http://dggsl.geol.uoa.gr/) has detected and detected, with a total of, with Strict criteria for ensuring the quality of results, over 19,200 earthquakes with mechanical learning methods (artificial intelligence), of which more than 16,900 with sizes M³1.0.
On February 14, more than 750 earthquakes were recorded, with ~ 100 having a size of M³2.5, 3 earthquakes with M³4.0, and no (0) earthquake with M³4.5, with the largest earthquake in size m = 4.1.
According to daily seismic data analysis data (without the use of mechanical learning methods) of the EKPA seismology laboratory, 94 earthquakes have been recorded on 15 February, of which none (0) m≥4.0, while the strongest earthquakes occurred at 05 : 37: 43 and 09:12:50 (local time) and were 3.9.
A gradual decrease in daily earthquake frequency continues. Most of the seismic activity continues to be found southwest of Anhydros, with a slight tendency to migrate to the southwest. The latter is linked to the micro -exacerbation observed on February 14 between ~ 20: 00 and 22:00 (local time), which is similar to previous outbreaks observed from January 26th. There was no similar rise on February 15.
Figure 1. Earthquake distribution map in the Cyclades region (Santorini-Amorgos-I) recorded on February 14 (artificial intelligence analysis) and February 15 (daily analysis). The radius of the circles is proportional to the magnitude of the earthquake (on top-right), while earthquakes with magnitude greater than or equal to 4.5 are marked with a star. The coloring responds to the focal depth, according to the color scale (right).
