The new equipment will move on the basis of priorities that will serve rational development of Armed forces and the modernization of deterrent potential. The new equipment will be presented in the coming weeks (the discussion will take place after March 4) by the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendia.

Mr Mitsotakis will talk about new equipment in the House of Representatives at a meeting for this purpose. Plenary information is intended to give the greatest possible political weight for the added value of the implementation of equipment programs for Greek society. Already, however, Mr Dendias has sent a letter of information to the Committee of Equipment Programs, which is being activated for the first time since its institutionalization (since 2010).

According to Everyday, The first priority of the new equipment will be the promotion of a multiple air defense dome (anti-drone, anti-aircraft and anti-branch) dome in the islands and Evros. The program is for the supply of High Range Surface to Air Missile – HSAM and mid -range (Middle Range Surface to Air Missile – Msam).

The third element of the dome is the radar network that will identify and categorize the goals. The initial cost of this system will move at a height of about € 2.8 billion. The dome of air defense will also be combined with a system of sensors and other capabilities that will provide a picture under the water. All of this system in the air and below the sea will receive the symbolic name “Achilles’ shield.

The absolute priority of the dome is a result of Athens after discussions inside the army. They all agreed that without modern and adequate air defense, any market for other systems makes them vulnerable, even against a potential threat that has already increased its potential in the sector of unmanned airplanes (UAVs) and ballistic missiles.

A second priority, mainly symbolic, is the fighter’s uniform, the cost of which does not exceed 200 million euros, is but a direct reinforcement of the domestic defense industry. At the top of the priorities is the supply of multiple rocket launchers (rockets), which will be placed in various areas, but primarily in Evros. Multiple launchers have proven their value to Ukraine’s battlefields and are considered a significant addition to the artillery arsenal. The system, for which the negotiations are at a very advanced stage, is the Pulses of Israeli Elbit and the commission is discussed in two phases of a total of 36 launchers (18 and 18).
