Clean Monday today and the whole country is celebrating the “Koulouma”. Saracetic dishes, outdoor tables, lags, music and dance. Friends, families and young children with a smile on their lips went to the highest places and attempted to throw away the kites – many managed it and so they filled the skies.

Today’s day brings dozens of customs to every “corner” of the country.

“Sulf” Filopappou Hill

Hundreds of citizens have been on Philopappos Hill from 11:30 to celebrate with friends and relatives on Clean Monday.

The Municipality of Athens, with the staff of the Municipality of Culture, Sports and Youth Organization (OPANDA) who distributes the necessary Sarakostian, Laganians, olives, spinach pies without cheese, and halva, to the citizens who have gathered for Koulouma.

“Good Lent! We give traditional dishes here to Philopappus and the feast begins. It has a lot of air, so a great opportunity for the kites to go high, “said Athens Mayor Haris Doukas who he himself distributed Sarakostian to citizens.

A large scene has been set up on Philopappou Hill that will host Yota Griva’s band for a genuine folk feast.

Elsewhere, the citizens are welcomed by the Athens Philharmonic Orchestra.
