Volkswagen attempts to change the data in the market for electric vehicles by launching ID.Every1. The new model will cost around 20,000 euros.
It will indeed become a “car of the people” (after all, it means “Volkswagen”) if the German automobile industry is able to implement its announcements for id.Every1. The original was presented on Wednesday at the Congress Center, Düsseldorf. Those who have been “sweetened”, however, should still be a little patience. Mass production is not expected to begin before 2027.
The sought price of 20,000 euros would be the best that VW has offered to date. In addition, it would be lower than the prices of most of its competitors. “Id.Every1 is the last part of the puzzle on our way to a complete range of electric models,” explains Thomas Schefer, a member of the Board of Directors. of Volkswagen.
The first announcements for the 20,000 -euro electric vehicle had been made two years ago, but the case did not proceed immediately. The original plan for cooperation with the French Renault was not implemented. Some thoughts on a financial electric motor from the Czech Skoda (also a member of the Group) probably had no continuity. Now Volkswagen is getting ready to move on.
In the traces of up
Design standard for ID. EVERY1 is the UP, the well -known VW city car, no longer manufactured by 2023. But ID.Every1 will be significantly larger than its standard, 3.88 meters long and 1.82 meters wide. It will develop a maximum speed of 130 km/h, with a horsepower of 90 PS. Its autonomy will reach at least 250 kilometers after full charge.
The VW group has bet on the new model. “It is important to have electric vehicles at affordable prices, because this is the only way to establish electric drive,” says Thomas Sefer at the German News Agency (DPA). Prior to launching ID.Every1, of course, ID.2all is preceded by the standards of the well -known Polo, which is expected to be launched in the market in 2025, priced at around 25,000 euros.
Competition in Europe and Asia
Today VW’s most economical proposal for electric friends is ID.3, with a price (in Germany) around 30,000 euros. Both European automakers (Citroën, Fiat, Renault) and South Korean Hyundai are already offering competitive models at 25,000 euros. For European manufacturers, a price of 20,000 euros is considered rather impossible (with the exception of the highly economical Dacia Spring, ranging from around 17,000 euros). At the same time, Chinese automakers are trying to take advantage of every opportunity. In 2025 Leapmotor and BYD bring Europe new, more economical models to Europe, with BYD promising a price of around 18,000 euros.
In a Yougov market research in Germany in late February, 47% of respondents report that high prices do not encourage the electric car market. Indeed, price is considered an even more important problem than lack of autonomy or inadequate – even – charging network. 16%, however, say that they would “think about it” for electric motors if the price fell to 15,000 euros, while for a 14% the limit is € 20,000.
In the medium term, however, prices fall into electric models. Speaking to the DPA, Frank Svpe, an economist and a car expert, points out: “In 3-4 years the electric motors will range at the same prices as conventional vehicles, while around 2030 they can be cheaper. Market data is changing. “
