In a specially designed space, pet owners will be able to bid farewell to their favorite partners with dignity
Those who were lucky enough to love an animal know that its loss leaves a gap that is not easily filled. These little creatures are not just pets, they are friends, family, souls who shared moments of true joy and companionship with us. So why don’t they have a resting place worthy of the dedication they have shown us?
In an innovative move that responds to a growing social need, the first small animal cemetery in the area of Larissa, at the 12th km of the old highway of Larissa Volos, began operating at the entrance of Glafki.
It is a specially designed 2.5 acre area with trees and green, where pet owners will be able to bid farewell to their favorite partners with dignity.
As Alekos Papagelis, Alekos Papagelis, explained to RES-EIA, the site has all the necessary specifications required.
Indeed, according to him, an incinerator is expected to be constructed in the coming period so that there is an alternative to those who are interested, as the incineration process is more immediate and easy.
The interest is already great, mainly by veterinarians and individuals while the site is visited by young children who were quite tied to their pets.
“Until now when an animal was dying, the owners, not knowing what they can do, have transported it to various places, such as landfills, rubbish bins, etc. The pet owners did not have the opportunity to transport their pet to a landfill in the Thessaly area,” said Mr.
He also emphasized that the relevant licenses were received for the operation of the Cemetery and a suitable space was formed, offering all pet owners the opportunity to say goodbye to many years of comrades.
“The establishment of the Small Animal Cemetery is an important step towards recognizing the bond between humans and pets, as well as to ensure decent conditions for their last home,” said Papagelis.
The initiative has already garnered positive comments, and the most interest was shown by veterinarians who come into direct contact with individuals, who are also facing the dangers of arbitrary burials for public health.
