The seven detainees of the long-running corruption case in Rhodes Town Planning left the Court of Justice, with the obligation to appear at the Police Station once a month, the ban on leaving the country and the payment of a financial guarantee of 20,000- to 100,000 euros.

According to Ertnews, all those allegedly involved in the bribery and blackmail are denying the charges. According to defendant lawyer Maria Krikopoulou: “From the first moment we stated that we are innocent of the charges as they are attributed. There are some things that have not been impressed in order to make our full innocence to be clear, we expect that the research continues to find them. ”

For his part, the architect – engineer, whom the authorities describe as a “coordinator” of the organization, argues that all of his financial transactions are absolutely legal. “I work as a civil engineer over the last 45 years. I am married to 4 children and never gave rise to any criminal prosecution against me. I’m innocent. ” The defendant declares as the “brain” of the circuit. According to his lawyer, Mr. Stelios Alexandris, “he denies both basic offenses, namely that of the criminal organization and that of forgery.”

At the same wavelength is the Head of the Department of Publication Licenses of the Rhodes Building Service, describing the categories “unfounded and non -existent”. It was imposed on the highest guarantee of 100,000 euros. The case file was formed by her internal affairs executives, states: “… He had formed the necessary infrastructure in order to repeatedly perform building permits, false certificates (…), sometimes requesting any time or by receiving any time or by third party.”

The Mayor of Rhodes, Alexandros Koliadis, suspended the duties of all five (5) Urban Planning officials involved in the corruption case. The decision was published in Transparency. At the same time he referred them to the Disciplinary Board with the question of the holiday.

The rationale for the two judicial officers, who ordered their release on restrictive terms until the trial, summarizes that they are not suspected of escaping or committing new criminal offenses. However, lawyers point out that those involved are now able to alter evidence against them until the case is heard.

However, the President of the Supreme Court Ioanna Klapas-Christodouleas is requesting a disciplinary audit on investigative authorities who released those involved in the Rhodes Planning Circuit.

It is noted that from the views of the phone calls involved in the Corruption Circuit of Rhodes Planning Circuit, a dialogue was recorded with another woman who is alleged to be a municipal associate, who refers to a Proficiency degree he acquired, paying the amount of 1,200 euros. For this reason, an investigation is under way for the existence of circuit redemption.
