A state -of -the -art playground was inaugurated on Sunday by the Mayor of Athens Harry Doukas in Lycabettus.

The playground is located in Kitsiki Park, at the intersection of Dinoocrats and Disabled War Streets, in Lycabettus and is part of the upgrade and certification project 11

The playground of Kitsiki Park, 480sqm, is a careful play space in a natural environment. Its design highlights the particular characteristics of the park, incorporating elements of sustainability and urban identity of the neighborhood. Its equipment meets the most up -to -date safety standards and includes climbing constructions, slides, swings and toys suitable for all ages that promote the development of spiritual and physical skills and abilities and meets the most demanding modern standards. The design of the space ensures accessibility, comfort and safety for children and their parents.

During the inauguration, the children participated in the theatrical action “OP!” Directed by Stella Surioglou with Evangelia Mosios, Panos Soldatos and the Red Balloon. The Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, underlined: “We are fully upgrading 11 playgrounds in 2025, which we gradually deliver, improving everyday life in neighborhoods. The president of the Organization of Culture, Sport and Youth of the Municipality of Athens (OPANDA), Eleni Zontrou, said: “The 11 playgrounds we deliver this year, we closed them in early 2024 as inappropriate, as the safety of children is a non -negotiable priority. With resources secured by the Public Investment Program and a transparent competition, we proceeded with their complete reconstruction. Of all the 11 playgrounds renovated, the children of the 5th Municipal Community, playgrounds in Savagino and Diopolis, as well as Hermes and Pitimontos (Coaldas Park) in the neighborhoods of Rizoupolis, have already been delivered and welcomed.

In the coming weeks, there will be an additional eight playgrounds to Sina and Dafnomilis, in Damareos and Alcetou, Raftopoulou and Souliotis, in Probona Grove (Space A), Zafiropoulou and Cavafy, Vikela and Lampaki, St. Panteleimon Square.
