Indicatively, at the Axios Portal Health Center, doctors declined from 218 in 2014 to just 39 today
Significant gaps in medical staff and increased operational difficulties are facing health centers in Thessaloniki and in other areas, as noted, during a press conference, by the President of the Association of Scientific Health Personnel (formerly IKA) Northern Greece, Nikoleta Maniatis.
He said that at the Axios Portal Health Center, doctors declined from 218 in 2014 to just 39 today, that the recent announcement for 52 posts is not sufficient for the country’s 311 health centers, while 80% of doctors in Thessaloniki work as auxiliary, with no prospects.
At the same time, he noted doctors’ movements from health centers to hospitals make access to primary health care.
Unconstitutional, the legal adviser of the Association Elias Sarakenidis described the recent Supreme Court decision, which amended the employment status of the former IKA IDAs doctors, with 2,500 of them losing retirement compensation and not being entitled to the time.
