Everything was done in Zakynthos, on the Peninsula Keri, at noon on Wednesday (16/4/25) with poachers attacking and beating wildly, three bird observers from the international organization for the protection of birds of Cabs, according to Tempo24.

According to the organization on its website, the three bird observers had to be taken to the hospital after the attack on Zakynthos by poachers while the police have identified the first suspects.

According to the members of the organization, the attack was attacked by a group of about 15 masked hunters in the group of international birds of the CABs.

Based on the CABS, the area in which the wild incident occurred, the peninsula, is an area known for mass illegal executions of migratory birds.

Despite the complete ban on hunting in the spring, many hunters were present, most of whom were holding carbines according to the announcement.

“While our team recorded the situation, some poachers approached us and began to launch insults and threaten us. In a matter of minutes, other furious hunters were added and the situation was completely out of control, “said Italian Stefania Travaglia – a member of the team.

She added that without warning, her team members accepted buns on her face, thrown into the ground with kicks in the stomach.

“They also threw stones and warned us that if we consider our lives precious not to go back to the candle,” recalls Emma Phipps, a member of the British team. The attackers also stole a body camera and a smart phone phone, which recorded the incident according to the organization.

The men stopped their attack and left running only when they realized that the police had been called for help and a patrol was on the way to the spot. While police were trying to find and identify the attackers, a woman and two male bird observers were taken to Saint Dionysius General Hospital in Zakynthos, where doctors treated a broken nose as well as several open wounds and bruises.

“We have been informed that the Zakynthos Police Department has already identified a number of suspects who have been brought for questioning,” Ms Phipps said.

CABS President Karl-Heinz Kreutzer today (17/4/25) condemned the attack as “barbaric and unyielding” and called on the authorities not to leave any room for the judiciary to be brought to justice. He added that CABS would not succumb to violence and intimidation tactics and that its members will continue its activities in Zakynthos by the end of the month.

CABS is an international organization for the protection of birds, whose members specialize in revealing and complaining of illegal hunting and trapping migratory birds in the Mediterranean. The NGO is active in Italy, Spain, France, Malta, Cyprus, Lebanon and Greece.
