Doctors in SKAI: Signature for death penalty or refusal of intubation – Do not come to hospital if they do not want |

Doctors who are on the front lines of the battle spoke to SKAI about the cases of patients with coronavirus who refuse to be intubated, which have been increasing in recent days.

On the occasion of the death of a 49-year-old unvaccinated person in Volos, the president of the hospital doctors of Magnesia, Nikolaos Chaftouras, stated that “we have faced many cases of negatives. A recent example is the 49-year-old who was negative and died because he signed not to be intubated. When he lost consciousness, he was intubated, but it was too late. He was stopped and died. Another 60-year-old was intubated when she lost consciousness and is currently fighting in the ICU “. He described the incidents as a “signature for the death penalty”, stressing that it was suicidal behavior.

At the same time, he stated that the responsibilities of the State are huge, due to the lack of staff. “A hospital with one doctor and 110 patients cannot stand. We currently have 85 patients with Covid and 8 intubated in ICU and 2 outside ICU. “We are trying to stand up without staff,” he stressed.

For her part, the director of the ICU at Agios Dimitrios Hospital, Glykeria Vlachogianni, noted that when patients arrive late for intubation, the chances of survival are slim and that their will can not be a criterion. He stressed that doctors could not ask the patient to intubate him. “If he does not want to be hospitalized, not to go to the doctor, not to come to the hospital,” he said characteristically.
