Three major criminal organizations involved in smuggling and fuel distorting have been dismantled in recent months by the Organized Crime Response Directorate known as the “Greek FBI” as part of the intensification of police operations to combat the “black” oil market.

Only in the first five months of 2025 have formed Certificates for two criminal organizations which altered the measurements in the gas stations pumps and falsified the elements of the input/outflow system.

Two of the survey identified companies who ‘teased’ the pumps, installing illegal software, and approximately 200 stations who had purchased the software to deceive their customers and make big profits.

So far have been arrested 61 involvedof which 13 were in custody.

At least 15 stations have been sealedin collaboration with the Hellenic Police with AADE, while officers who are aware of the case pointed out that other sanctions would follow.

The solubles from Bulgaria

The dissolution of the two circuits interfered with the operation of the pumps came in the wake of the criminal organization, last year, which was moving chemical products for fuel distorting, while also involved in the distorting of alcoholic beverages.

The organization, on the one hand, introduced solvents from Bulgaria and on the other hand prepared a illegal factory in Boeotia. ELAS executives estimate that by the end of 2023 it had traded 1,200 tonnes of solvents.

20 people have been arrested in the investigations, including a leader of the organization. Three of the detainees have been detained, and the license of a gas station was removed.

Police executives have stressed that the Greek FBI has now developed research methods, especially through cooperation with AADE, which have substantially improved the ability to detect the “chain” of fuel distorting and trafficking. “Businesses will continue with increased intensity,” they said.
