It’s a Friday night. An American Partner of a large law firm, having just landed from Washington in Tirana, lights up the lights of the car he just received. At the same time, a Spanish veteran of Private Equity leaves Bari Italy heading to Patras. Both have the same destination: Athens.

Due to the strike by air traffic controllers, the plane was not an option. However, nothing would stop them. They did everything possible to find themselves in Greece and meet with the other 200+ participants of a great Athenian institution: Global MBA Trophy.

This year, for the 19th time, the Global MBA Trophy welcomed graduates from the world’s top business schools for a unique sailing showdown. With the support of Mastercard and Everypay, the Barcard participants went on 30 boats and opened sails for two days full of adrenaline and competition.

The International Importance of the Institution

The Global MBA Trophy is not just a sporting event; it is the largest worldwide MBA sailing event since Rolex has given the legendary SDA Bocconi Regatta. At the heart of the institution lies the connection of the business community through sport, promoting Greece as an ideal destination for high -level international events.

This year’s event highlighted the excellent work of the Hellenic Nautical Club, which took over the hosting of the races with international standards. The Group’s dedication and experience ensured the conduct of a good and professional struggle, which left the best impressions of participants from all over the world.

This event highlights extroversion and innovation, two values at the core of both Mastercard and Everypay. At the same time, it reinforces the image of the country as a pole of attraction of global talents and promotes the connection of entrepreneurship with sport.

Fotis Kouris (Athens University of Economics and Business, 1st Division B+):

“The race was excellent for two days, it was a closed battle with two other crews, HEC and Wharton […] They kept us alert, but in the end we came out winners and we look forward to meeting them again next year. ”

The value for Greece

The realization of the Global MBA Trophy in Greece is not just a sporting event; it is an international networking tool. Participants, coming from the world’s largest economic centers, combine business knowledge with the racing soul, highlighting the values of competition and cooperation.

These struggles attract the global business community in Greece, enhancing high quality tourism and promoting the country as a place where sports and entrepreneurship coexist harmoniously.

Clemens Mieth (Imperial, 1st Division A):

“It was very intense, many battles in the water […] The wind was very unstable in both direction and tension, but we kept our temper and tried to sail safely and speed. ”

The future of the institution

The 19th edition of the Global MBA Trophy has proved once again that sailing and business leadership share common values: dedication, teamwork, innovation. The competitors not only fought a battle with the waves, but showed how world class leaders adapt, work together and seek excellence.

Looking at the next year, the Global MBA Trophy continues to inspire and unite. We look forward to the 20th edition in 2026, hoping for even more participants and an even more emblematic event.
