Serious problems that downgrade school operation and endanger students’ safety – what the mayor of Sparta responds
Rosina Minakakis, Vice President of Parents and Guardians Association, Angelina Zavra, Treasurer of the Association and former President Margarita Plagakis talk about the problems facing the Music School in Sparta.
See what Sparta Mayor Michalis Vakalopoulos responds to “Where there is Greece” show:
The club presented the serious problems that downgrade the operation of the school in December 2024 to the city council of the city. Specifically, the following were mentioned:
- Dangerous and inappropriate building facilities: Teaching classrooms are leaks, plaster falls and severe damage, creating conditions dangerous to the safety of students and teachers.
- Inactive Energy Autonomy: Despite the existence of infrastructure, the school has no functional energy autonomy, depriving valuable resources.
- Problem online connection: Inadequate connectivity prevents IT courses and the use of modern educational tools.
During the meeting, the majority of advisers were in favor of all the requests of the Association, proposing immediate repairs where this is possible, a proposal for which the Mayor was committed to all. Continuing his speech, he also committed to the definitive resolution of the building problem as soon as the weather allowed. He raised, as his priority, the safety of the children and teachers of the school. Today a few months later the club says nothing has happened and the problems remain. In fact, a few days after the meeting, the mayor told them that he would disburse 50,000 euros on school issues, but to date, this money has not been given.
