The island of Halki is the first Gr-eco Island that has the role of “model” for sustainable development, technological progress and well-being of the inhabitants, as it is now the first scale of applications for solutions that will lead us to the future. It will be the first energy de-lignified island and will cover all its transportation needs using sustainable electricity. It enters the era of sustainability and becomes a model of green economy, innovation and sustainable mobility through the cooperation of Greek and French companies. The companies participating in the project are: Siggelidis and Citroën Group, ALD Automotive, Akuo Energy Greece, Omexom / Vinci Energies, as well as Papastratos, PPC, Vodafone.
E-mobility, with the parallel creation of charging stations, powered by energy from renewable sources, contributes significantly to reducing the climate footprint of transport and human activities in general, while improving the quality of life of people.
Syggelidis Group and Citroën proceeded with the electrification of the vehicle fleet of public bodies in Halki, donating new electric vehicles with zero footprint to replace the old polluting vehicles, fully covering their needs. It is also particularly important that the Siggelidis Group and Citroën are committed to offering the opportunity to the residents and businesses of Halki to buy electric vehicles at special prices. The transition to green and smart mobility will be additionally supported by tax and financial incentives of the Ministry of Environment and Energy. The first Citroën vehicles offered as a donation by the Siggelidis Group to cover the needs of the Municipality, the Police and the Coast Guard are electric passenger and commercial vehicles and more specifically the models: AMI, e-C4 C-Cross, e- SpaceTourer and e-Jumpy.
In Halki are the only Citroën AMI in the world! The Coast Guard has one and the Police one.
With this donation, the current transport system of the Municipality is modernized. At the same time, the Security Forces in Halki now have at their disposal means of transport to cover their needs. In fact, they are purely electric, smart and extremely flexible. These are the new AMIs – Citroën’s revolutionary solution for sustainable urban mobility – delivered to the Police and the Coast Guard in the world’s first exclusivity! In Halki are the only Citroën AMI in the world.
The statements of the President of the Group, Polychronis Siggelidis stand out: “We are very happy and proud of the contribution of the Siggelidis Group and Citroën in the important project that takes place on the island of Halki. In line with the goals of reducing the climate footprint set in the framework of the action “Copper Green – Smart Island”, we stand firmly with the sensitivity shown by the Greek government, the French embassy and the French business community and undertake the promotion of non-electricity pollutants “. Like Dimitris Kavvouris, chief operating officer of Citroën & DS Automobiles at the Siggelidis Group: “The transformation of Halki into the first Greek” smart and green “island (Gr-eco island) enables its inhabitants to” live “from now on future. The donation of vehicles to local agencies, but also the ability of residents and businesses of the island to be able to buy Citroën electric vehicles at factory costs, is the tangible proof of the willingness of Citroën and the Siggelidis Group to turn the country into a sustainable movement”.
